March 3.13.10 Health and Wellness Class- Be an Ingredient Detective!

Every second Saturday of the month a “Health & Wellness” education class is organized which highlights local experts. These experts explain how various beneficial choices can make a positive difference in our lives.

On Saturday, March 13th, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., the class is going to focus on becoming an ingredient detective. Attendees will learn how to find good and bad ingredients on food and skin care products. Bring your favorite tips for this class and help us all be insightful ingredient detectives.

The class will also explore whole food nutrition and lifestyles. Sunrider whole foods and other products will be explained.  In addition to this, there will be two special “health” experts:

Darla Salem, owner of A-Peeling Faces is an aesthetician and a massage therapist. Her Ahwatukee business has been titled “Best of Ahwatukee” two years in a row, for 2008 and 2009. Ms. Salem will share ingredient knowledge and insights into skin care products sold in retail stores. She will also give us home remedy tips and provide a skin care demonstration.

Kimberly Salter, owner of Curves and her fitness consultant, Sally Pino, will be explaining and demonstrating how effective short amounts of exercise can bring amazing results for the body.

The class is located in the Ironwood Library at 4333 E. Chandler Boulevard, Phoenix, 85048.

 There is no cost.  A RSVP is appreciated due to limited seating.

Get to know Guest Speaker Darla Salem, Owner of A-Peeling Faces SkinCare & Massage Therapy

 

            Darla M.Salem, Owner of A-Peeling Faces SkinCare & Massage Therapy, left the corporate world & Cleveland, Ohio in 2000.  She moved to Ahwatukee Arizona, completely switched careers, and is loving being self-employed!  She is now a licensed Aesthetician, Massage Therapist, and Weight Management Facilitator for Am I Hungry? ®. 

            Darla won First place ‘Best of Ahwatukee’ for Aesthetician and 3rd place for Massage in 2008.  She was also awarded ‘Best of Greater Phoenix’ for Beauty & Day Spas. She has over 9 years experience in the industry and is highly involved in the community as an Ambassador for the Chamber of Commerce as well as a member of the Women in Business Committee. 

            Prior to owning her own business she worked  for Plastic Surgeons, Fitness Centers, MedSpas, Laser Clinics, Chiropractors; she was also an Instructor for the Massage Therapy program for Arizona School of Allied Health.   Darla performs Skincare treatments including Microdermabrasion and Chemical Peels.  She customizes her skin treatments depending on the individuals’ skin type and condition.  She carrys PCA Skin care products which is a chirally correct professional grade line only sold to licensed professionals, and Colorescience Mineral Makeup.  She performs a variety of Massage  techniques such as Deep Tissue, Shiatsu, Pregnancy and Swedish.
