Sunrider Soy… What makes our soy special?

Recently, there has been a lot of press regarding the negative aspects of soy. Asian people consume and have consumed soy products on a daily basis for thousands of years. The Japanese, in particular, eat a soy-based diet. They are known to live longer and have lower rates of colon and breast cancer. Asians do have higher rates of other types of cancer, but that is related to unsanitary conditions, the prevalence of hepatitis and eating salted fermented fish, not the consumption of soy as some people have suggested.

Research has found that soybeans do contain ingredients similar to phytoestrogens, but no one actually eats raw soybeans. It would be like eating raw potatoes, which also contain estrogen like steroids, raw flour or raw rice. In general, grains beans and herbs must be processed in some way for your body to benefit from them. Similarly, soybeans must be properly processed to minimize the negative ingredients for you to eat it.

We use soy because it is an excellent plan based protein with antioxidant benefits.  Vegetarians in Asia, such as monks, eat soy products as their main protein source. We use processed soy similar to tofu powder in VitaShake and processed soy similar to soy milk extract in NuPlus.

Another concern about soy is the use of genetically modified (GMO) soy in most soy products. Please be assured that Sunrider does NOT use GMO soy. It is costlier and more difficult to find non-GMO soy, but we believe in providing the best quality ingredients in Sunrider products.

    WELL THE BEST THING ABOUT BEING IN LOMBOK IS THEIR TOFU & TEMPE!! IT IS THE MOST FAMOUS OF ANYWHERE! NOW i REALISE THIS IS INSANE TO TRAVEL SO FAR FOR THESE 2 HUMBLE ITEMS…BUT WHILST I AM HERE, I CAN TESTIFY THAT IT& IS THE BEST SOY I HAVE EVER TASTED IN MY LIFE! THE FRESHNESS & THE FLAVOUR ARE NOT LIKE ANY COMMERCIAL FERMENTED SOY PRODUCT… & IT IS THE REAL DEAL…MADE FRESH FROM THE SOY BEAN….EVEN BALI ISN’T AS GOOD AS LOMBOK… & PEOPLE BRING IT BAC TO THEIR HOMELANDS!! IF SUNRIDER COULD INVESTIGATE THE RECIPE FROM HERE THEN THAT WOULD BE IMPRESSIVE!!!

    This is what I have discovered about soy from my research. Soy is a very large molecule almost impossible to digest. It interfers with hormonal activity and the proper uptake of vitamins and minerals. It has an enzyme inhibitor in it that interfers with it’s own digestion – it take about 2 hours of cooking to get rid of it – that is why the Japanese came up with tofu. Soy has estrogenic properties which behave like a growth hormone and anyone with cancer should avoid it all costs since it can promote the growth of cancer cells. The only safe form of soy is fermented soy as in miso paste, soy and tamari sauces, tempeh and natto. The Japanese have been healthy because they eat mostly the fermented form of soy and also eat a lot of fresh vegetables, sea vegetables and fish.
